Yes. The following steps help many people with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea sleep better:
- Stop all use of alcohol or sleep medicines. These relax the muscles in the back of your throat, making it harder for you to breathe.
- If you are overweight, lose weight.
- Sleep on your side instead of on your back.
If you still have problems, you can wear a special mask over your nose and/or mouth while you are sleeping. This treatment is called "positive airway pressure," or PAP therapy. The mask will keep your airway open by adding pressure to the air you breathe. The mask helps most people with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. In a very few cases, surgery may be necessary to remove tonsils or other obstructions from the throat or nose. |
